In 2000, Rising Star Rottweiler Rescue, Inc. was founded as a Not for Profit organization for the sole purpose of rescuing, retraining, and relocating Rottweilers that have been “thrown away” for a variety of reasons by their owners.

 

The Rottweilers have been acquired from shelters, rescue groups, or owners who no longer want to keep their pets. As part of the rescue process, each dog is medically evaluated and given whatever veterinary treatment is necessary. Typically, care for each animal is from four to six weeks with all care and feeding provided through our volunteer foster home program.

In an attempt to place these “adoptees” into loving homes , all potential “parents” are thoroughly checked out and a home visit is made to be sure that each dog will be more than adequately cared for and readily welcomed as part of its new family. Several pre-adoptive visits are encouraged so the “parents and pets” have time to bond prior to the dog being released to its new owner. Important follow-up visits are made to evaluate the situation and provide assistance as needed with any obedience or training problems that should arise. Focusing on this transitory period is important in the over-seeing of the animal’s adjustment and well-being in its new environment.

Rising Star’s goal is to place as many Rottweilers into loving homes as possible and to give these animals a second chance to be loved as well as to provide its new owner with unconditional love and companionship.

In order to make this project possible, funds received either as adoption donations or through organized fund raising projects go directly to medical expenses associated with inoculations, spaying/neutering, and identification devices, such as microchips or tattoos, exclusively for our rescued Rottweilers.

In addition, the Rottweiler family is growing and more people are becoming aware of the need to become involved in rescue work. Through social gatherings, picnics, and fun training matches, the members of the Rising Star family keep in touch with one another so the line of support and communication is always open and available.
